A quiet retreat in metropolis!

"I love this life. I love homesteading and all that goes with it. I love being up and out at all hours. I love new people, new ideas, passing on what I know."

This is the Deal

I am currently running a small 15 acre meat farm by myself. We keep fiber sheep, cows, all manner of poultry, bees, hogs and assorted barn cats, livestock guardians (or food dish guardians), and dogs. We have a small market garden and orchard and farm 365 days a year. There is a small stained glass studio on premises and a number of fiber arts projects always in progress.
Accommodations are in the primitive farmhouse or camping if you prefer. we are less than an hour from Philadelphia, and 2 1/2 hours from New York City or Washington DC. Our farm is surrounded by parkland and farms. We are very close to a state park, and less than a mile from the C&D canal at the top of the Chesapeake.

We have 3 greenhouses, each being used in different ways. By the end of 2013 we should have a hot tub installed and working. We are currently only doing one farm market per week, but are looking to build a cooperative among 3-4 small farms in the area that would represent all our farms at a variety of markets.
We high speed internet here, but coverage over the whole farm is spotty, as is cel phone service.

What Else

I'm an odd duck. Socially liberal, oddly conservative at times. I have a sick sense of humor and love a good laugh, even in the face of misfortune (or maybe especially! :)
