This is the Deal

Volunteerism for Community Development & Environment Education(V4D) is a non-government, non-profit organization in Vietnam with a mission to build global community events through local environmental and community services.

As the first local Non-Government volunteer organization in Vietnam with official status to have volunteer programs, we provides opportunities that make a difference to the lives of people from all parts of the world. The organization also works to setup sustainable projects to protect the environment, provide basic education for vulnerable groups, and encourage community development and cultural exchange.

V4D is managed by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) with the support of Youth in Action program of European Commission in capacity building, and CCIVS (Co-ordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service) in the volunteer management.

Northern Vietnam gets fewer visitors than Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and the coastal cities in the south, but it's full of culture. Historically, and to this day, it has been significantly poorer than the southern part of the country. Cultural and political differences remain strong - the language is pronounced differently in some ways, and there's definitely a more authoritarian feel in the cities.
The largest city in northern Vietnam is the capital of Hanoi, and it's the only attractive one. But there are numerous other sites, such as Ha Long Bay, the mountain resort of Sapa, and the historical battlefield of Dien Bien Phu.
Not only being the most cultural part, the North is also one of the most texturally rich and diverse regions of Vietnam. Halong Bay is an awesome place for luxury cruises around the limestone karsts, Tam Coc is consider to be a “Halong bay on land” and Sapa & the very northern Vietnam including Mai Chau, Cao Bang, Ha Giang … are specific with mystical highland villages and ethnic minorities, or the Red River Delta is spectacular with traditions and customs. The northern Vietnam is absolutely interesting to discovery.

What Else

The projects we offer can be undertaken on either a short or long term basis and focus on traditional education, environment education and community development. There are numerous projects for volunteers at V4D both in urban and rural areas. We also have tailor-made internship programs to suit the volunteer’s interests and skills.

We believe Education is fundamental to human progress, enabling individuals and communities to acquire skills and knowledge essential for improving their quality of life. But for vulnerable groups like rural teenagers access to high quality education is limited. while this teenagers must be a major part of any equation dealing with immediate and long-term solutions to sustainable development.
