Organic nursery, flower farm and free range sheep
This is the Deal
Gooseberry Hill is a busy farm and we need WWOOFers who can work independently for about 5 hours every day, longer on market days. The work varies depending on the seasons but mainly includes helping at Farmers’ Markets, picking and bunching flowers, sowing seeds or potting up plants as well as ongoing maintenance work such as weeding, bulb planting and spreading mushroom compost. Seasonal activities include lambing, shearing & hay carting. After work, take a walk to see wildlife.
Please apply via email with some information about your background, interests, skills and passions. Also advise about any special diets,
food allergies or medical conditions.
Gooseberry Hill is a 100 acre family farm, 45 kms from Adelaide. We produce sheep, cut flowers, bulbs (all managed with a strong sustainable land management philosophy) and certified organic herb & vegetable seedlings.
Accommodation is for two singles or two couples in our mud brick home, with your own bathroom shared among volunteers.
Meals will be mainly from home grown produce including meat. We care strongly about food, so what you get on the table is generally a delicious meal made from scratch and with seasonal ingredients.
Geoff is a lecturer at UniSA, teaching land-use and sustainability, and undertakes research on Farmers' Markets.
Anna is a visual artist and is in charge of cooking, baking and preserving.
Volunteers need to bring suitable clothing for work, sturdy boots, a hat and raincoat. If you are worried about your hands, bring gloves for weeding. Summers are hot and dry, so bring plenty of sunscreen and protective clothing. Winters get cold and wet, so be prepared. You need to have your own insurance.
We prefer Volunteers who share our interests and beliefs in sustainability.
